Julie Carlson lives in Hebron, Connecticut with her husband Bob and their cat Ziggy. Julie started taking photographs about six years ago. She has been influenced by her uncle, Dennis Puleston, a naturalist, author and artist, and her grandfather, Arthur Lee, a sculptor and artist.

Julie and Bob spend every weekend traveling around the woods and marshes of New England taking photographs. Over the years she has developed her skills as a nature photographer. While she loves photographing anything in nature, her obsession is birds. She has won numerous awards at local events.

When Julie is not taking photographs she works full time as a legal secretary in Hartford, Connecticut and part time as a massage therapist. Working full time leaves only the weekends for photography, which is her true passion in life.
